Any changes in GMAT test structure?

GMAT test structure is designed to comprehensively test the knowledge, intelligence and patience of the candidate. It is called a CAT exam where CAT stands for a Computer Adaptive Test. This means that the computer adapts the questions thrown at the candidate based at the level of competence of the candidate. Therefore the exam starts with a very easy question. If the candidate answers correctly, the next question comes out to be slightly tougher. On the other hand, if the candidate doesn’t answer correctly, the next question would be slightly easier. This is a very good method to analyze the competence of the candidate. At the end of the exam, the marks are calculated based on the way the candidate answers each of the questions.

The test structure of the GMAT test is therefore of a random nature. Whether you answered the question correctly or not, will determine the kind of question you will get next. There is a vast database of questions, and the questions are picked randomly based on the ongoing performance of the candidate in the examination. A complex algorithm works behind the scenes to decide which type of question is posed. A candidate might receive a question from the quantitative section, followed by a data sufficiency problem followed by more problem solving questions. Read more…
