CAT 2010 practice tests

After adding GMAT practice tests and GRE practice tests, we are happy to announce free CAT online practice tests on CAT for million of students in India , who take up CAT every year.

CAT is an all-India test conducted by the Indian Institute of Management as an entrance exam for the management programes of its seven business school.

This was a paper and pen test and , went onine last year

Free online seminar and MBA alumni meet by Kaplan

Kaplan Inc, a pioneer education company in New York, is presenting back to back four free online seminars for MBA aspirant which will be followed by MBA night.
The MBA night will gather some of the leading MBA alumni from the top-notch Business schools. This event will be held at Kennedy’s Midtown, an uptown Irish pub in Boston, USA.

Detail of the four days seminar and MBA night are as follows:-
1.    First day (Sunday, 23rd January 2011) online seminar theme is “Business School – Why and Where to Go”.
2.    Second day (Monday, 24th January 2011) online seminar will feature “The Perfect B School Application”.
3.    Third day (Tuesday, 25th January 2011) online seminar will feature “Assessing (and Improving) your Resume”.

GMAT Quantitative Practice Test

In one of our posts  How to Crack GMAT Quantitative Section, we had shared some tips on GMAT Quantitative tips.  GMAT quantitative section has questions that are related to basic arithmetic, basic algebra, and geometry.  The two primary types of questions found in the quantitative reasoning section of the GMAT are data-sufficiency questions and problem-solving questions

The questions found in this section of the exam will present the individual with a problem or set of information that the individual will have to use to:

  • Solve the Mathematical Problem Presented
  • Demonstrate the Individual’s Knowledge of Basic Mathematical Concepts
  • Indicate Which Information Should be Considered
  • Indicate the Amount of Information that is Necessary to Solve a Particular Problem

Nakrasov is an expereinced GMAT test creator and he has created a GMAT Quantitative Practice Test

This quant test has 30 questions and includes practice questions in both Problem Solving and Data Sufficiency .

Each question’s correct answer has been explained by the guru.  At the end of the test , you can review your answers and look at explanations which will help you in identifying your shortcomings.

Surviving the GMAT test day

So, you set your mind to get your business degree and decided to write GMAT. You properly planned your study course and followed it to the tee. Now, arrives the D-Day, the big test day itself. This is one day that will decide the outcome of all your sacrifices and hard work over the last few months. Therefore, it is very important to put your best foot forward on this day. Following tips will help you in making the best of it:

  • Know the Official Rules: Yes, we could have told you to relax on the exam days and other such things, but the more important thing is that you are in know of all the official requirements of the day. Make sure you know the location of your test center. Also plan to be there at least an hour before the test, as there are certain formalities to be fulfilled which take some time.   • Bring Adequate Supplies: GMAT is a long test, so you might want to keep yourself properly nourished. You are not allowed to bring the eatables to your test table. However, you will be allotted two short breaks which you may use for replenishing your energies. Bring healthy food which would not leave you groggy. Read more…

How to Conquer AWA(Analytical Writing Assessment) Section in GMAT

Analytical Writing Assessment section is an important part of GMAT. It is also unique in the sense that it is not counted towards GMAT 800 score. AWA is graded separately on the scale of 6. However, this does not mean that you should neglect this section. In fact, most of the schools pay attention to AWA score, since it is an indicator of your diagnostic abilities. It is not a difficult job to score perfect grade on this section. If you follow the below written tips, you too can score perfect six. So here we go:

  • Go to GMAC.com: GMAT administering authority GMAC provides the complete list of AWA questions that may be asked in the test. You should get familiar with this list and should ensure that you are comfortable answering that kind of questions. However, do not waste your time by actually answering all the questions.
  • Analyze Your Questions: Although this section tests your writing ability, but it basically is designed to evaluate your critical abilities. Integrated reasoning coming up in GMAT

When it comes to getting admitted to a business school, GMAT is the test you need to ace. The first step for conquering this test is to get familiar with the test structure. Recently, GMAT administering authority GMAC brought about some changes in the test format. So if you are planning to write the test in near future, here is your chance to get lowdown on the new framework of the test.

GMAC has added a whole new section called ‘Integrated Reasoning’. GMAC tested the new section in spring 2010 and would re-test it this fall as well. The change will be officially implemented on June 4, 2012.  The new section is designed to test advanced reasoning skills of the test takers. However, like essay section, this section will also be scored separately from total 800 score. According to GMAC, the new section will replace one of the two writing sections, which are currently featured on the exam. Therefore, it means that, from 2012, test takers will have only one writing assignment.

If you are interested in attending a business school in the US, then taking GMAT is the first step in this direction. GMAT is a standardized admissions test and is used by the business schools throughout the U.S.A. High GMAT score is one of the most important parameters used by Business school admission councils for the selection purpose. Therefore, it is very important that you prepare well for this key test. Here are some pointers, which will help you in breezing through the test

Preparing For the Test:

You should carefully evaluate your capabilities to determine the time required for preparing for this test. If you are overly optimistic and choose shorter time period, then you may have to leave out certain topics. This will have negative impact on your test score. In the very same way, if you choose too long a time for preparation, then you run the risk of losing your tempo and determination. On an average, you would need Four months for preparing for this test. Although, the actual time required for preparation may vary based upon your personal circumstances and aptitude.
