Tips for clearing Road Test

For those who are appearing for the road test  in US , here are some tips . Me and my wife both had been driving cars in India and had been also driving in South Africa. So were not new to cars. What we were’nt accustomed to was the left hand driving but we picked it in couple of weeks.

My state was Massachusetts(MA) and I first gave the written test. You can practice for written test Free RMV driving test. Luckily I cleared it in first go. Next was driving test.I was lucky enough to clear it first time but for my wife it took 3 attempts !!(Yes 3 attempts). Let me help you out what she missed and how you can learn from our experience

Here are the things to remember when taking driving test

1) Show your confidence. Remember do not be nervous or give a hint that you are first time driver.

2) The car you are driving should be in perfect condition. It should be registered in your name or in name of person who is your sponsor. It cannot be rental car. It should have hand brake.  Make sure all the lights and indicators are working.

3. Remember your hand signals.  There are 3 hand signals which you should know in case your car’s system fail !! My wife did not knew this as I also did not knew them. I was lucky I got through , she was not. This was her first failed attempt.

Next time we were very careful and we went with a driving school in Sharon. we thought we would have better chance when going through a driving school. This time my wife did not qualify as she was using both the feet for driving(keepin one feet on brake and one feet on accelerator). In India do not have gearless cars and people use both the feet for driving. We also thought the officer was not fair because there was another girl who did some silly mistakes and she was given a warning and then continued her driving test. My wife wa snot lucky and this was her second failed attempt.

4) Never use both your feet while driving.

We were determine that she should pass in the next attempt and she practiced a lot and was ready for all challenges. We also prayed to God to have the luck on our side.

This time the officer when took for test asked her to

5) Stop car at stop sign. (Tip – Bring the car to complete halt and look in all directions before you continue)

6) 3 point turn

7) reverse the car on single lane road

8) Parallel parking

9) Assume that you are in hill and park car uphill

I should say that even I was not very sure for some of the last point but my wife had done her homework. She did a great job and her got her license . Wo hee!!!

I hope you can benefit from our experience and clear the test in first attempt.
