For a webiste , climbing high on Alexa and getting a Google Page rank is very important.  PageRank results from a “ballot” among all the other pages on the World Wide Web about how important a page is.

I will share my experiences of trying to get a page rank for our site Skill-Guru.

Skill-Guru domain is less than a year old [as of Nov 2009] and the site was officially launched in July 2009. The early  days were slow as  our initial source of traffic was from referral sites. We started building content added practice tests and invited other to create the tests.

While all this increased the traffic base on stream of visitors , we were not doing well in terms of search engine positioning. Although site was designed for easy navigation and simple flows, we missed out some minor technical details like the header bar to change for test name, the name of posts in blog instead of an id etc.

In the next phase we focused on improving on these areas. In the meantime I was also reading about SEO(Search engine optimization) and trying to get a google page rank for the site. Now I was reading in forums and site and was really getting concerned as to why my page rank is still zero. Am I doing something wrong ?  Is something missing  ? Should I hire SEO consultant ?

Since I did not had much time to devote to this problem , I continued working towards my site and blog.

This month I found that my site has PR2 !!  That was a good surprise.

I think it is calculated by the numbers of users visiting your site and how by the age of your domain.

Anyway I am happy that I continued doing my work of writing contents and did not bothered much about pagerank.
